Protesting against the government’s move to organize the State Formation Day celebrations officially, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Convener Prof Kodandaram on Monday hoisted a ‘Black Flag’ on JAC Office at Adarshnagar.

After hoisting the black flag, the Telangana activists observed a two-minute silence for those who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana.

Talking to media persons, Prof Kodandaram said that by being forced to observe the celebrations under police security, the government has recognized the resentment among Telanganaites over the Formation Day.

Later, the Telangana activists staged a dharna at Abdullahpurmet in Ranga Reddy district on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway No 9, obstructing traffic.

The activists also burnt tyres on the road raising slogans against the government for observing the event hurting the emotions and sentiments of Telangana people.

Sensing trouble, the police arrested Kodandaram and others to prevent untoward incidents and to maintain law and order.
