Boycott Formation Day celebrations: Kodandaram

Demanding the official cancellation of Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations in Telangana region, Telangana Joint Action Committee Convener Prof Kodandaram on Wednesday released a poster before media persons at JAC office.

Talking to media persons, Prof Kodandaram said the poster was released to observe the Formation Day as ‘Betrayal Day’ as the integration of the state failed to fulfill the aspirations of Telangana people.

Prof Kodandaram said the Formation Day celebrations would provoke the people of Telangana and create law and order situation in the state.

As the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission coming out with its report by Dec 31, there was no need to organize the Formation Day celebrations at this juncture, he pointed out.

The Telangana ideologue wondered how the government, which failed to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day on September 17, was keen to celebrate Formation Day officially.

He called on Telangana Ministers, MPs, and MLAs to boycott the AP Formation Day celebrations.

The Ministers from Telangana had earlier in the day made it clear that they would participate in the Formation Day celebrations and refused to be cowed down by threats of boycott. The Ministers stated that it was part of the responsibility of a Cabinet Minister to participate in the celebrations.
