Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president G Kishen Reddy on Tuesday charged the Congress leaders, who wants to rename the Lalitha Kala Thoranam after Rajiv Gandhi, with an intention to seek the blessings of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Talking to media persons after inspecting irrigation projects in the district, the BJP leader took strong objection for renaming the Thoranam, and said that the move has hurt the sentiments of Telugu people.
Mr Kishen Reddy alleged the Congress leaders, who did not follow the schemes and programmes launched during the tenure of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, are now renaming all government buildings and projects with his name to get political mileage.
Demanding that the government withdraw its Order issued in this connection, the BJP leader said that the decision has not been welcomed by any section of the society.
Reacting on the Income Tax department raids on Gali Brothers and his relatives in Karnataka, he said the Central government was resorting to witch-hunting against BJP leaders after failing to deal with them politically.
Mr Kishen Reddy challenged the government to conduct income tax raids on Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy and former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda’s houses as they amassed wealth through illegal methods.
He said the Congress, which looted thousands of crores though various corrupt methods during construction of irrigation projects, has no moral right to question BJP leaders’ sincerity.
He said the BJP would continue its fight against congress corruption and for conducting raids on BJP leaders’ houses.
