CM to write to Karnataka: Almatti

Chief Minister K Rosaiah will write to the Karnataka government and also apprise the Central Water Commission over the decision by that state to allot a paltry 15 TMC of water from Almatti and 8.5 TMC of water for Tungabhadra, as this was not referred to by the Krishna Water Tribunal.

Major Irrigation minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah told media persons on Monday that, Secretaries to the Government of the Departments concerned will shortly proceed to Maharashtra to discuss with their counterparts to hammer out a solution in respect of Pranahitha-Chevella project.

The talks will include among others, matter related to compensation and acquisition of land.

The need for these officials to visit Maharashtra arose as there was no response from the other end, said the Minister.

The Mr Lakshmaiah earlier held review meetings with the Secretaries and Advocates on the Court disputes on projects and illegal utilisation of water by the states where the river flows down to AP.
