LSP demands appointments to SC, ST Commission

The Sarva Jana Satta, a Lok Satta affiliate, on Tuesday requested Governor ESL Narasimhan to ensure that the State Government appointed Chairman and members of the State SC, ST Commission without further delay.

It had made a similar request to Chief Minister K Rosaiah earlier.

The Sarva Jana Satta, representing SCs, STs, OBCs and minorities, told the Governor that the positions had remained vacant since April 2009 at a time atrocities on SCs and STs have been rising.

In a representation, Sarva Jana Satta convener Eda Chennaiah and others informed the Governor that the commission addressed only 4360 of the 23773 cases filed with it in the last eight years.

The leaders said that persons of integrity and competence should be appointed Chairman and members of the commission.

Mr Chennayya told the media that the Governor had given them a patient hearing and promised to take up the matter with the Government.
