Telugu Desam Party Affiliates Attack Deccan Chronicle Office in Andhra Pradesh

The Deccan Chronicle press office in Andhra Pradesh was attacked by activists affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party (Tdp) following the publication of an article titled "Alliance Takes U-Turn on VSP Privatization" in the English daily.

The article, which reported on a potential change in stance regarding the privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), sparked outrage among Tdp supporters. Activists from the Tdp's youth wing, the Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF), and the Telugu Women's ranks staged a protest outside the Deccan Chronicle office, vandalizing furniture and setting fire to the office's signboard.

The Deccan Chronicle shared videos of the attack on their social media platform, X, condemning the violence and reiterating their commitment to journalistic integrity. The publication's reporters have stated that they will not be intimidated by such threats and will continue to report on issues of public importance.
