Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday alleged that the ‘inefficient’ administration of Chief Minister K Rosaiah was the cause for farmers resorting to suicides.

Talking to media persons after distributing cheques for repairs of dilapidated mosques in the district, Mr Naidu criticized the ‘indifferent’ attitude of the state government towards the farmers. He said that the farmers are in dire straits due to indifferent policies of state government and were resorting to suicides.

The former chief minister alleged that the suicides rate among farmers has increased after the Congress government assumed charge.

Accusing the government of lacking both vision and direction in running the administration, Mr Naidu also stated that the law and order in the state has deteriorated due to an inefficient Chief Minister at the helm.

The TDP chief urged the government not only waive off weavers’ loans, but also announce a financial package for them since “they are in a state of desperation, almost on the edge of penury.”

He said the TDP always put the welfare of the Minority community foremost by implementing welfare schemes for their benefit. During communal riots, the TDP had protected properties of Muslims and observed communal harmony in the riot hit areas, he stated.

The former chief minister demanded that the state government announce a special package for the social and economic uplift of Muslims. Mr Naidu also stated that the TDP supports the quota for Muslims.

The former chief minister warned that the TDP would launch an agitation against illegal liquor shops on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti Day in all the district headquarters in the state.

Reiterating its stand on Telangana, he said the TDP Telangana leaders would stage dharna in front of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s residence in New Delhi seeking her support in favour of Telangana state formation.

Mr Naidu criticized the state government for its failure in conducting local body elections for various municipalities.
