Congress leaders from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions on Friday alleged that some vested elements have politicized the Telangana statehood issue to obtain political mileage.

The Seemandhra MPs and MLCs on Friday convened a meeting at the Assembly Committee Hall under the leadership of Government Whip S Sailajanath to chalk out their future course of action on the various developments taking place on the political horizon in the state.

Talking to media persons at the Media Point on Assembly premises, Mr Sailajanath stated that some elements have politicised the Telangana statehood issue in order to get some benefits.

He also condemned the politicizing of Telangana lawyers’ agitation and ransacking of High Court premises.

The leaders urged the party High Command to initiate action against Telangana Congress leaders for speaking against interests of party.

They also criticized the politicisation of Group-1 preliminary examination in the name of implementation of 42 percent quota.

They urged the government to initiate action against Telangana Joint Action Committee convener Prof Kodanda Ram for making inflammatory speeches hurting the sentiments of people and creating law and order problem.

The Seemandhra delegation would meet Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and Chief Minister K Rosaiah in the evening seeking protection of Seemandhra interests.
