Cancel all irregular mining leases : LSP

The Lok Satta Party on Wednesday demanded that the Government cancel all irregular mining leases including the one granted to Saraswati Power and Industries. 

Party Working President DVVS Varma said that a committee could be set up to review all the mining leases to zero in on the irregularly allotted ones. Successive Governments had allowed political mafia to plunder natural resources, Mr Varma said.  

Mr Varma said that the Government award mining leases through the international competitive bidding to ensure transparency, ward off nepotism and corruption, and maximise revenue.

The Government should ensure justice to displaced people and that the interests of future generations did not suffer because of indiscriminate mining. 

Mr Varma said that Lok Satta Party offices all over the State would hoist the National Tricolour to mark Telnagana Liberation Day on September 17.
