Reiterating that his party would always support farmers’ issues, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday criticized the state government for its failure to supply adequate quantity of fertilizers to the farmers.

Addressing the gathering at Kosgi, Mr Naidu charged the government of increasing fertilizer prices in the market by creating artificial scarcity and by selling them in black market.

He said the government has totally failed in supplying fertilisers to farmers even though the state had received good monsoon this year.

Though the input costs of agriculture increased, the income of farmers has not increased accordingly, the TDP chief regretted. Even the farmers are not in a position to get their input costs, he said.

“The government is not in a position to supply fertilizers for one crop,” the TDP president alleged.

He said that the problems of farmers were increasing day-by-day due to inefficient and indifferent attitude of agriculture officials.

“The government has cheated farmers in the name of subsidized supply of fertilizers and seeds. When the farmers raise their voice to highlight their plight, the governments orders the police to lathicharge them and foist false cases against farmers,” he said.

“The TDP would give a fitting reply to the government if officials continue to fail to solve the farmers’ problems. The officials should come out of AC rooms to address the problems of farmers,” he asserted.

The TDP chief alleged that, “both the Centre and state governments are discriminating against the farmers. They have totally failed to address the problems of the farmers,” he charged.

“The government has no moral right to continue in power as it failed to address problems of farmers,” Mr Naidu charged and vowed that his party would continue its fight for farmers and backward classes until the government addresses their problems.

Meanwhile pro-Telangana activists tried to disrupt the TDP chief during his speech. Mr Naidu told them that his party was not against the formation of Telangana state.
