Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president G Kishen Reddy on Monday advised his party cadre to be in tune with the needs of the people so as to serve them with promptness.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Chambers of the party Floor Leader Bangari Prakash in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation head office, Mr Kishen Reddy said that being in touch with the grassroots would help the party cadre to know the problems of the people.
The BJP leader charged the GHMC officials with utterly neglecting the needs of the people and said that this is evident from the condition of pothole filled roads, unswept garbage, clogged storm water drains and stinking nalas, absence of streetlights and so on.
He said that the people are facing hardships due to the lethargy which has set in, in every government department, be it the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board or the AP Discom or the GHMC.
Former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya criticised the government by saying that the poor are finding it difficult to even survive due to the high prices of essential commodities. He also said that the unearthing of one scam after the other has shaken people’s faith in the government.
Mr Dattatreya exhorted his six party Corporators to work for and raise issues regarding the welfare of the people in spite of their limited presence in the Corporation.
Floor Leader Bangari Prakash charged the Mayor, Commissioner and Standing Committee members in the GHMC fighting to impose their authority instead of trying to help the people of the city.
He said that this fight for one-upmanship has led to the GHMC Commissioner not even attending a single meeting, raising questions of the Corporation’s dedication to solving the issues of the people.
Senior BJP leaders and former MLAs N Indrasena Reddy and Dr Laxman were also present.
