Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya weds

Southern Superstar Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya on Friday morning entered into wedlock with Ashwin Kumar at Rani Meyammai Hall in Chennai.

Many noted celebrities and top political leaders, including Home Minister P Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, film actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sridevi, Boney Kapoor, K Chiranjeevi, D Venkatesh and Eenadu Group chairman Ramoji Rao and a host of other dignitaries attended the wedding and blessed the newlywed couple .

The notable absentee was AIADMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa who is busy in Kodanad Hill Station to oversee arrangements for the ensuing Assembly polls in that state. 

The wedding was performed in traditional Ayyengar Brahmin rituals.A wedding reception is to be held later on Friday evening.

Groom Ashwin Ramkumar has completed his master’s degree from the Stanford University in the USA. He is the son of real estate tycoon Ramkumar. Ashwin is looking after his father's business.

On the other hand, Soundarya has completed her animation degree and she has directed an animation movie ‘Sultan - The Warrior’, which stars Rajini in the film. The film is expected to be released soon. 

Soundarya had got engaged to Ashwin in Feburary this year in Chennai.The wedding has been keenly awaited by the numerous fans of one of the Tamil film industry’s biggest superstars, Rajnikanth. 

It has been termed as the biggest wedding ever in the history of Tamil marriages.According to reports, Rajini released a message to his fans expressing his regrets at not being able to invite them all. His message said that time and space constraints were forcing him to ask them not to attend. The actor requested his fans to bless the couple.

Rajini has himself supervised all the arrangements for the wedding. According to reports, the actor has gifted a brand new apartment to the newlywed couple.
