A delegation of 72 members of Telangana Congress Monitoring Group on Thursday left for New Delhi to highlight the deep-rooted and strong emotional urge for a separate Telangana state to the party High Command.

The delegation, as part of Chalo Delhi Rail Yatra, aims to ‘symbolically highlight the urge of grassroots workers of Congress party who yearns for a separate Telangana state’, according to TCMG general secretary G Niranjan.  The Yatris left for New Delhi by the Duranto Express on Thursday afternoon.

The delegation would meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Union Water Resources Minister Pawan K Bansal and other senior leaders and try to highlight the injustices meted out to the Telangana region by successive governments.

The delegation would also explain the mood and pulse of Telangana people after the submission of the Srikrishna Commission report on December-end.

Mr G Niranjan said that the yatris would also make their stance clear that the TCMG would not be able to control the situation if things go out of hand after the Srikrishna Report on the future of the state is submitted by the year end.

Earlier, the delegation members met at the Telangana statue and pledged to continue their fight for statehood.
