Glowing tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by the Congress party here on Friday on his 66th birth anniversary with peace rallies and health camps being organised by the cadres.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah and APCC president D. Srinivas led the party in paying tributes to the late leader. They along with Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao garlanded the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rosaiah asked the people to recollect the sacrifice made by Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
Hitting out indirectly at Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy said true leaders would not clamour for any positon of pelf but will strive to strengthen the party. Rahul Gandhi is a fine example of this kind, the Chief Minister opined.
Health Minister Danam Nagender and Municipal Administration Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy participated in the event.
