With students and youth becoming emotional about the formation of separate Telangana, the Telangana leaders counselled them and administered collective oath to students and others that they would not commit suicides. They urged them to fight for the achievement of Telangana but not take the extreme step of committing suicide.
At the OU campus, students turned up in large numbers. They were administered oath that they would not commit suicides, but live to achieve Telangana state. Vehicular traffic was regulated in and around the university campus in view of the mass programme. Buses were not permitted to ply on the campus.
As reported earlier, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, has called upon all those fighting for Telangana to observe this day as “Anti-Suicide Day”.
