It is known that Vijay Devarakonda pinned a lot of hopes on Liger directed by dashing director Puri Jagannath as it marked his debut in Bollywood. Many felt that Vijay Devarakonda would set the screens on fire and shake the box office. However, the film turned out to be a disaster and Vijay Devarakonda's hard work went for a toss.

With the film turning out to be a disaster, all the distributors and exhibitors who suffered losses started demanding compensation. But when they went and protested in front of the Puri Jagannath's house, Puri Jagannath added that he will not compensate and even sought police protection.

In the midst of all this, people started targeting Vijay Devarakonda. They started accusing him of being arrogant and insensitive and even started trolling him on social media creating a lot of memes. But many feel that Vijay Devarakonda has been targeted unnecessarily and in fact they are making him the scapegoat. They also point out that the same set of people celebrated when Liger failed at the box office as they are insecure about Vijay Devarakonda's growing stardom and fan following across the country.

Reliable sources share that Vijay Devarakonda in fact did not get his full remuneration for Liger. He got only 25% of his remuneration and people cannot hold him responsible for the Liger losses as he is in no way connected to it.
