Salman Khan starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 which has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as one of the main leads were released with a week apart. Salman's KKBKKJ released on Eid which is considered as biggest holiday for Bollywood films and it is a Hindi film which didn't released in other languages. On the other hand Ponniyin Selvan 2 is primarily a Tamil film but released in multiple languages. Let us take a look of their boxoffice performances.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan opened with poor reviews but registered good numbers in its first weekend due to Eid advantage. The film has so far grossed Rs 180 Crores worldwide. Out of this, it has made Rs 125 Crs from India and Rs 55 Crs from overseas. The film has ended it's theatrical run and no notable number will add further.
Coming to Ponniyin Selvan Part 2, the film which was release on April 28 as a sequel to Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 which has collected Rs 500 crores at the global boxoffice has received good reviews and registered good numbers in its first weekend. The film has crossed Rs 300 crores figure at the box-office globally. It can add more in the coming days considering good word of mouth with no notable releases this summer.
While Salman starrer is struggling to even reach Rs 200 Crore mark, Aishwarya Rai starrer PS 2 also featuring Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha in other lead roles is cruising ahead with more than Rs 300 Crs. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is a remake of Tamil Superhit Veeram while Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of popular Tamil novel with the same name. The OTT release of PS 2 is said to be June 28, 2023 in Prime Video.
