Dhanush starrer bilingual SIR / Vaathi won audiences with its emotional content. The film which focuses on the significance and malpractices in education system has also touched caste discrimination, rich - poor irregularities in a sensible manner. These all resulted in making the film success at the boxoffice too along with winning laurels from the audience and critics. Dhanush's first Telugu film has become successful and opened a new market for him.

According to the makers, the film has become the highest-grossing movie in Dhanush's career. It has been officially announced that a massive Rs 118 Crores has been collected by SIR / Vaathi worldwide. The film.turned out to be a profitable ventures for makers, buyers and everyone involved making it a clean hit. 

After having a successful theatrical run, SIR / Vaathi is now available for streaming on Netflix. The movie has already created a buzz on the OTT platform and is trending at the top positions in the Netflix in India movies section. The Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions of the film are currently ranked at the first, second, and fourth spots, respectively.

Venky Atluri has directed the film while Samyukta Menon played the female lead in the movie. The film is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The movie features several prominent actors, including Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, and Hyper Aadi, in pivotal roles. GV Prakash has composed the music.
