Selvaraghavan : Genius Director In Exploring Emotions

Tamil Director Selvaraghavan is known as Sri Raghava in Telugu. He has directed many cult films and earned a cult fan base for himself. His bold style and brutally honest writing and narrative style struck the film industry like a thunderbolt. He got an easy entry into films as he is the elder son of Tamil Director Kasthuri Raja and present star Hero Dhanush is his brother. But, it is Selva who has made his brother a Star and paved a way to him during his early career with path breaking films. His distinctive style of Direction made audience go crazy for his films. He pushed the boundaries and presented bold content in a convincing manner. 

Selvaraghavan debuted as director with Thulluvadho Ilamai in 2002 which also marks the debut of Dhanush as actor. It was also remade in Telugu as Juniors with Allari Naresh. Selva's next film Kadhal Kondein also starring his brother Dhanush. It became a blockbuster giving big breaks for both Selvaraghavan and Dhanush. This was also remade with Allari Naresh in Telugu as Nenu. Then his film 7/G Rainbow Colony / 7/G Brindavan Colony which was also simultaneously released in Telugu became a cult hit. It is produced by AM Rathnam introducing his son Ravi Krishna as lead actor in the film. Then he made Pudhupettai with Dhanush, a blood-bath gangster drama which ended as an average grosser. 

Selvaraghavan moved to Tollywood to fullfil his commitment to make a film with Venkatesh. He changed his name as Sri Raghava and made Aadavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule co-starring Trisha. He went in a different way from his usual style of hard-hitting films and made a romantic entertainer with his mark emotions. It became a huge blockbuster. Then going back to Tamil films Selvaraghavan made Aayirathil Oruvan dubbed into Yugaaniki Okkadu with Karthi, Reema Sen and Andrea. The film became runaway hit in Telugu and attain a cult status in Tamil. Then he scored another hit with Dhanush titled Mayakkam Enna. But, his most expensive film Irandam Ulagam starring Arya and Anushka and NGK starring stars like Suriya, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet bombed at the Box-office leaving him high and dry.

Selva Raghavan's latest film Naane Varuvean starring Dhanush earned critical acclaim. He also made his acting debut with Vijay starrer Beast. He was also seen in a major role alongside Keerthy Suresh in Saani Kaayidham and lead role in Bakasuran. He is gaining popularity for his impressive performances as an actor. But, his fans and movie lovers believe he will make a strong comeback.
