Superstar Rajinikanth turns 72. He is celebrating his birthday today. Fans, celebrities and well wishers flocked to social media and are puring their wishes and love for Thalaiva. Rajinikanth is one of the biggest legends who enjoyed massive stardom in Indian Cinema. He has been created a mark and carrying it since five decades. He has a cult following who are inspired by his down to earth nature despite being one of the biggest boxoffice phenomenon. 

Rajinikanth was born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on December 12, 1950. He started his journey into films with K Balachander directorial Apoorva Raagangal in 1975. Since then there is no looking back he acted as a villain, second hero, hero and a Superstar. His larger than life roles and magnetic persona has resonated across the world. He has immense fan following in Japan earned with Muthu. Though Rajinikanth was a familiar name in Telugu with his dubbing films and acted in a couple of direct Telugu films. His big break in Telugu came with Baasha. The film has created a huge market in Telugu along with fan following for the Superstar. Followed by Muthu, Arunachalam he has cemented his base in Tollywood. Narasimha has taken his image to a whole new level. 

After a colossal failure with Baba, Rajini is back to top game with Chandramukhi and Robo. His Kabali had huge opening and 2.0 became one of the highest grossers in Telugu that year. But, his recent releases Kala, Petta, Darbar and Peddanna failed at the boxoffice. Now all eyes are towrads his upcoming film Jailer. Directed by Doctor and Beast fame Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer is being produced by Sun Pictures. Another film is Laal Salaam where he plays a special role directed by his daughter Aishwarys Rajinikanth.
