In the month of August, there was some hungama in the name of Producers Guild. Top producers of Tollywood are part of thia Active Producers Guild and they help to find a mutual agreement whenever a problem arises in release dates or other issues. Post COVID this year, when films were supposed to be not performing well at the boxoffice, The Film Chamber Of Commerce (Tfcc) along with Active Telugu Film Producers Guild (ATFPG) jumped into action. They declared to stop the shootings for a month to brainstorm and come up with some ideas for the benifit of films.
One among many rules was that there showld be a window of 8 weeks between theatrical release and OTT release. They also said that everyone must adhere this rule and there is no question of flouting the agreement. They also said about regulation of ticket prices along with food and beverage prices at the multiplexes. All of these were said by halting all movie shootings for a month. Now when it comes to implementation, the OTT rule is completely trashed.
Let's begin with Alluri, the film streamed in OTT within 2 weeks of its release, Swathimuthyam streamed within 3 weeks, Ghost within 4 weeks and now Ori Devuda is also streaming less than 4 weeks of theatrical release. Most of these films are from big production houses which belongs to the producers those who has made those rules. Those who made those rules are least bothered about following them. Then what is the point of calling meetings, behaving like they are striving hard for the betterment of Industry. But, in reality everyone is after money and everything is business. It is laughable whenever these so called 'Guilds' come and say that they are there for the welfare of film industry. They are in the industry to create bank balance only.
