Tamil Tambis dreamed that Maniratnam's mega project Ponniyin Selvan which is made in two parts would outmatch Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali. The film's first part Ponniyin Selvan 1 with the star cast of Vikram, Karthik, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Shobhita Dhulipala, and Sarathkumar hit the screens and failed to make an impact on other languages except in Tamil.

Movie lovers from other languages leave along with Telugu people started comparing it with Baahubali and felt that Ponniyin Selvan for all the visuals, hard work, and grandeur paled in comparison to Baahubali. This is making Tamil Tambis outraged and not only common people and movie lovers of the Tamil language but also their critics started issuing warnings that they would crush the upcoming Telugu movies.

However, their behavior only started exposing their double standards. They are forgetting that Telugu movie lovers are generous in accepting any language people and stars and that was the reason all language films get dubbed and do well in Tollywood. But this was not the case in Kollywood which is filled with linguistic fervor to the core. Everyone knows how other language people and stars are made fun of and mocked at in Tamil Nadu. None of the Telugu heroes, be it NTR, ANR of the earlier generation, or Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, and Balakrishna, or the current generation heroes Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, NTR, Ram Charan, etc enjoyed encouragement and support. Only Prabhas and to some extent Allu Arjun turned the scenario with the recent hits.

This is unlike the market, love, support, and adulation enjoyed by Tamil heroes in Tollywood. Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, and Gemini Ganesan enjoyed tremendous fan followings, and even Vijay, Ajith, Suriya, and Karthi enjoyed a huge fan following so much so that they have taken it for granted and started releasing their films with the same Tamil titles without even promoting the films. Better Tamil Tambis and the film fraternity stop issuing threats and instead try to come up with quality products as Telugu movie lovers always turn quality products even if dubbed into blockbusters without any linguistic feelings like their counterparts.
