Artists, Technicians Review

Sai Pallavi is known for her exceptional talent be it acting or dancing. This time she showed her acting prowess coming with a power-packed performance. She showed why she is called the lady power star when it comes to performance. She showed intensity in her expressions and emoted in an impactful manner to create a stunning impression on the screen. Sai Pallavi virtually carried the film on her shoulders. She took her performance to another level as a girl who sees her dad as her role model, who loved her dad to the core, and showed intense emotions when she goes all out to save her father fighting singlehandedly. She also showed subtle variations in expressions when she had to make the tough decision when all her dreams come crashing down and bitter truth dawns on her and reality strikes like a thunderbolt.

Kaali Venkat created an impact as a struggling advocate who was branded as a failure by the seniors and his peers. He complimented Sai Pallavi well and both elevated the proceedings with their performances. Aishwarya Lekshmi who produced the film starred in the role of an enthusiastic journalist and she impressed with her performance. Saravanan, Jayaprakash, Prathap, Kailesh Ramanand, Livingston,Capt Pratap and Kavithalaya Krishnan performed according to their roles.

Gautham Ramachandran penned a story that is relevant and narrated the same in a serene, calm, composed, yet powerful and impactful at the same time hard-hitting manner. He started the proceedings and went straight to the point and from then on screenplay turned racy. He maintained the same tempo till the end. The entire first half showed Sai Pallavi's love for her father and her struggle to save him from his troubles. Gautham Ramachandran showed how a girl goes to any extent to save her father running from pillar to post with virtually no support coming from anyone. The first half ends with a glimmer of hope.

The second half turns interesting with the investigation and court proceedings and it is shown in a realistic manner without any over-the-top dialogues and sentiment and preachy elements. Gautam Ramachandran embedded the narration with thoughtful and meaningful dialogues to give the viewers the feeling that the story is happening in our neighborhood and this connected chords with everyone. When Gautham Ramachandran reaches the climax the twist will shock everyone though some may give an expression 'Look I told you no?"

Gautham Ramachandran came up with a hard-hitting, powerful story and he made an impact with his screenplay and direction. With Sai Pallavi's high octane and intense performance, the film's emotions reached new heights.

Govind Vasantha's music is fine. He gave soulful and heart-touching background music taking movie lovers into the story. Sraiyanti & Premkrishna Akkattu's cinematography gave a realistic feel to the proceedings. The editing of Shafique Mohamed Ali is crispy except for a few lags. Production values are fine.

Rating Analysis

Sai Pallavi's Gargi directed by Gautham Ramachandran generated interest with a gripping teaser and trailer. He takes everyone by surprise by showing a father trying to get justice for his molested girl child and at the same time a daughter trying to save his father. The suspense he maintained till the end without going for any commercial elements like fights and romantic feelings, must be commended. One gets a feeling that they are watching a film like Pink or some Hollywood thrillers. Gautham Ramachandran with Sai Pallavi's exceptional and stellar performance in Gargi presented a powerful thought-provoking thriller based on many real-life incidents happening across the country.
