KGF Chapter 2 Review

What's Behind

KGF2 is the most waited film across the country. Following the sensation of KGF, movie lovers have been waiting for KGF2 starring Yash under the direction of Prashant Neel. The film did record pre-release business and hit the screens on April 14, 2022.  Let us see whether the film lived up to all the hype it generated among movie lovers.

Story Review

Deepa Hegde (Malavika Avinash), chief editor of 24/news channel plans to complete her interview with Anand Ingalagi (Anant Nag), author of the book El Dorado which reveals the unknown secrets of Rocky Bhai (Yash). However, they get a shock when they come to know that Anand suffered a heart attack. However, his son Vijayendra Ingalagi (Prakash Raj), agrees to complete the interview. Thus the narration picks up from where it ended in KGF Chapter 1 which showed the rise of Rocky as a powerful gangster.

All the workers in KGF worship Rocky Bhai as their savior after he eliminates Garuda (Ramachandra Raju). He decides to expand the KGF by digging more mines by training the workers. His opponents however try to eliminate him and they find the right person in from of Adheera (Sanjay Dutt). Even as Rocky Bhai and Adheera fight for the supremacy of KGF, political equations and powers change when CBI officer Kanneganti Raghavan (Rao Ramesh) starts unearthing the secrets and Ramika Sen (Raveena Tandon), a tough politician becomes the Prime Minister. To find out how Rocky Bhai dealt with his enemies and whether his love with Reena Desai (Sreenidhi Shetty) blossomed, enjoy KGF 2 on-screen.

Artists, Technicians Review

Prashant Neel drove everyone crazy with the hero elevation with mass elements in KGF1 which turned him into a national celebrity. All eyes are on him as to how he will come up in the KGF2. Prashant Neel dispelled all the doubts right from the start to the finish. He filled the entire film with heavy-duty action scenes which knocked the living daylights out of the viewers. The standout stunts included Yash's introduction, the action sequence before the interval and scenes that come up after the interval, and the heavy-duty climax. The stunt choreography is sensational. In order to elevate the heroism of Yash, he even showed Sanjay Dutt in an even more powerful manner. But in doing so, he missed the emotional part of the story which played an important role in the success of the first part. With numerous characters coming in and out and unknown faces, viewers got confused at times. Predictable narration and lack of real twists and turns, illogical scenes played spoilsport with the output. The story turned out to be weak and the screenplay and direction got nothing new except for loading the entire film with mind-blowing action scenes. But as the masses do not give a heck for the logic, one can say that Prashant Neel and Yash emerged successful in satisfying them to the fullest.

Yash continued from where he left in KGF 1. He carried himself with the same intensity and energy. He looked stylish, raw, and rugged and costumes suited his swag and mannerisms. He showed variations in his expressions turning brutal, ruthless, and menacing at one time and humane, and emotional at other times. Srinidhi Shetty got a limited screen presence just like her role in the first part. However, she did full justice to her emoting well.

Sanjay Dutt looked powerful evoking fear as Adheera. Though the scenes featuring Yash and Sanjay Dutt are powerfully written, Sanjay Dutt's age showed up on the screen bringing down the intensity levels. Rao Ramesh as the CBI officer performed well and Prakash Raj did justice to her role. Raveena Tandon looked intense as a powerful politician who meant business while dealing with the anti-social elements.

Ravi Basrur elevated the scenes with his background music. He breathed life with his background music. However, at times, it turned out to be loud. Songs tuned by him are situational and showed few emotions. However, their placement, especially the romantic number looked odd. Bhuvan Gowda's cinematography is realistic and showed Kolar Mines in a natural manner. Editing of Ujwal Kulkarni could have been far better. There are few drags in the film. Dialogues are intense and production values are grand.

Prashant Neel and Yash's KGF2 offered kick-ass action scenes choreographed in a never seen manner. It is a treat for the masses and fans of Yash along with the action movie lovers. However, Prashant Neel missed the vital emotions in his quest for mass elevations. KGF2 pales in comparison with KGF1 but the masses do not mind the intense action elements as it drives them out of their mind. Prashant Neel failed to come up with a strong story, screenplay, and direction and a weak protagonist reduced KGF2's power. However, Prashant Neel kept everyone guessing ending the film on an interesting note showing KGF3 files. Considering all these aspects, CJ goes with a 2.75 rating for KGF.
