Vikram becomes Suriya, Karthik & Kamal

It would be an easy interpretation for every one who watched Maniratnam’s movies from long time. Protagonists in most of this ace directors films are people who are outlawed in the eyes of the law but are heroes in the eyes of public and director. For instance, the roles played by Karthik in Mouna Raagam, Kamal Hasan in Nayakudu, Suriya in Yuva and now Vikram in Villain.

Asked Maniratnam about the same logic being mainatained through out, ‘Iam not trying to portray people as heroes or villains. Iam just trying to portray people as human beings. I think people whom we rarely see and whom we would like to understand or get a grasp of and know what made them what they are. Such is the characterisations of my heroes,’ a clever Maniratnam said.
