The National Awards announcement in the Best Actor category for Dhanush (which he shared with Manoj Bajpayee) has put the focus back on Asuran all over again. The actor switching between two contrasting looks in an intense avatar for the 2019 release won many hearts across the country and the National award was a natural extension to appreciation showered on Dhanush. Everyone is in the know that Venkatesh is reprising the actor’s role for the Telugu remake Narappa.

Venkatesh has established himself as the go-to actor for remakes since the beginning of his career and as they say in Telugu, remakes are a ‘kottina pindi’ for him. However, many streaming viewers are likely to revisit Asuran on Amazon Prime after the honour for Dhanush yesterday. While it’s natural for two versions of a film to be compared with one another, this time the pressure will be more on Venkatesh to deliver the goods.

On the flipside, the advantage with Narappa is that it promises to be a feast for those who’ve been craving to see Venkatesh in a full-fledged action entertainer for a long time. Priyamani, Karthik Rathnam play crucial roles in the film has been in the news about the creative differences between the composer Mani Sharma and its director Srikanth Addala. Narappa is extremely crucial for its director Srikanth Addala, more than anyone, who would be looking to bounce back after a string of flops.
