Nani has been one of the finest actors among the current crop in Telugu cinema, balancing terrific script selection and commercial appeal of a film in a way only he can. While he tasted success as a producer for the first time at the National Awards with Awe, the win for a film he has acted in, Jersey, on the same prestigious forum has had him delighted. Commemorating the same, the actor left a video message expressing his happiness about Jersey’s success at the awards.

“Recently, I and Gowtham Tinnanuri thought that Jersey wasn’t quite lucky with awards as most award ceremonies were cancelled/postponed in 2020 owing to the pandemic. And here we are, hearing today that the film won at the National Awards across two categories.

I am extremely thankful to Gowtham, Navin, Sanu Varghese, co-actors Sathyaraj, Shraddha, composer Anirudh Ravichander for their work. It’s heartening to see Telugu cinema cementing its authority at the National Awards with every passing year. We hope to better the awards tally next time too. I congratulate team Maharshi and award winners across other categories on this occasion,” Nani shared.

Incidentally, the Hindi remake of Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, also directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri is awaiting release in November. Dil Raju and Allu Aravind are jointly producing the film.
