Mosagallu Review, What’s Behind?

Vishnu Manchu pinned all his hopes on Mosagallu where Kajal Aggarwal played his sister. An American director Jeffrey Gee Chin wielded the megaphone, while Vishnu himself bankrolled it. Let’s see whether Mosagallu provide any break for Vishnu.

Mosagallu Story Review:

Arjun (Vishnu Manchu) and Anu (Kajal Aggarwal) are twins who lead a boring middleclass life, until they meet their boss Vijay (Navdeep) who invests to open a fake call center. They threaten USA citizen as Tax officials and make them deposit money in their accounts. It’s a 2600 Cr scam and USA Tax Department and an honest police officer ACP Kumar (Suniel Shetty) are after them.

Mosagallu Artists, Technicians Review:

Mosagallu is based on a true story of a brother and sister who together did this 2600 Cr IT scam and this shook the USA. Vishnu Manchu did some research on the issue and gathered all the information. He hired an American director Jeffrey Gee Chin who doesn’t know Indian emotions. Due to poor writing and immature making, the film turned out to be a documentary. The film hardly has any engaging elements. We see great bonding between brother and sister and in no time they argue for simple reasons. Dialogues are also not up to the mark. There are many cinematographers in India who would have done far better to Sheldon Chau who handled the cinematography. Sam CS’s background score doesn’t help the film, while the theme music is too loud. Goutham Raju cut the film for 2:10, still we feel watching a lengthy film. Production values of 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment are just okay for the film of the genre.

Onto performances, Vishnu Manchu didn’t look comfortable in the role. He neither looks decent in initial portions, nor does he look a conman in later portions. For the roles of these kind one need to look super smart and tough, but Vishnu looked pretty ordinary. Kajal Aggarwal’s transformation from a slum girl to a rich one is appreciable. She is cool in the role of the mastermind behind the scam. Navdeep and Naveen Chandra played their parts aptly. Ruhi Singh is restricted for only 3 to 4 scenes and she is okay. Suniel Shetty is wasted for not so important role. We don’t feel the presence of comedians Raghu Babu and Harsha. Tanikella Bharani is usual as typical middle class father. Other actors were decent in their respective roles.

Mosagallu Review Rating Analysis:

The idea of 2600 cr scam itself makes us curious to know how it happened and why USA government and Indian government couldn’t do anything about it. Vishnu would have hired an expert writer to betterment the script. Moreover, an Indian director would have been an ideal choice. Films of these kinds are to be made as racy entertainers, but as everything goes wrong, the narration is dead-boring.

The film begins with childhood episodes depicting the slum life of the protagonist. Cut to present, Kajal seeks divorce from hubby and Vishnu is bored of doing call center job. Recognizing spark in him, his boss gives him a golden opportunity and it’s his sister who influences him to accept the deal. From here on, the thrilling and exciting elements one would expect in the narration missed completely. Nothing much happens, as they simply call US citizens and threatens and goes on till interval.

Latter half starts on tedious note with Vishnu coming up with other master plan. But, the execution is routine. Vishnu and Kajal’s scenes lacked the emotional connect. Vishnu shouts on Kajal and she goes from there and the very next day they talk very normally as if nothing happened. There are 2 to 3 similar sequences. For example, when Suniel Shetty comes to warn Vishnu, Kajal who left the place after an argument with her brother, comes back to the place and threatens the police officer to leave the place. Then, the brother and sister talk about the business. Uff… That’s how the emotional part was written. The pre-climax and climax portions too lacked thrilling factor.

On the whole, Mosagallu is a boring film with not much interesting or exciting elements. A good subject was wasted completely due to weak writing and pathetic taking. Even technical team too comes up with mediocre work. CJ goes with 2 star rating and it’s tough for the film to survive at box office.
