One never knows which Friday or what movie may change the fate of an actor in the film industry – the charm of the profession lies in its uncertainty, but it may also prove fatal for some. Character artiste Jayalalitha, who entered the Telugu film industry in the mid-80s and has established her name in the television industry, facing her share of highs and lows in a career spanning nearly three decades.
The actress received the shock of her life when a producer-couple duped her to the tune of Rs 4 crores a couple of years ago, leaving her in a shaky financial situation. Though she’d tried every trick in the book to get her money back by filing a police complaint, the fraudsters managed to evade them from time to time. In a recent interview, Jayalalitha had mentioned that she had to ask many people for roles in serials and films to recover from the situation.
“Ali gave me a role in his film Lawyer Viswanatham immediately. Naga Babu was a source of strength in those difficult times and had many words of support and encouragement for me. In the need of the hour, he would just call me, ask my account details and deposit money. He’s like a pillar of support in my life and I don’t know what I could do to repay that gratitude. Life has hit me hard time and again, but I hope to come out of this phase and do well for myself, like always,” she said.
