It is not yet clear whether the Centre would put forward a proposal in the Parliament on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to form separate Telangana state. The Srikrishna Committee is still holding talks and hearing from the people and parties to recommend for a separate state. It had to submit a proposal and the Centre should study it carefully and then put a Bill in the Parliament and it has to be approved. This procedure might take at least three years.

Unmindful of all this, the producers and directors of the Telugu film industry are getting ready to cash in on the situation by producing films with Telangana in their backdrop. Popular director N Shankar himself is producing a film on the banner of Mahalakshmi Productions with Telangana in the backdrop. He is planning to launch the regular shooting of the film by the end of May and take up shooting in Hyderabad, Ramappa temple and on the banks of River Godavari. Chakri is scoring music while Goreti Venkanna is penning the lyrics.

Yet another producer cum director R Narayana Murthy is bringing out another film with Telangana in the backdrop. Titled as 'Veera Telangana', Narayana Murthy is producing it as the 22nd film on the Sneha Chitra banner. He says, 'We are going to dedicate the film to the 4,000 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the land, for freedom from bonded labour, and for those who strove hard in the armed struggle of farmers of Telangana. I made the film with the armed struggle of farmers in Telangana for about a decade from 1940, which means that it is a periodic film.

' It is a surprise that R Narayana Murthy is from Andhra but made a lot of research to bring out this film. Very recently Rasamayi Balakrishna is getting ready to produce a satirical and comedy film called 'Yamalokamlo Telangana'. It is worth mentioning here that a film on Telangana 'Dhoom Dham' had recently hit the screen on April 30.
