Anushka-starred Panchakshari, produced by B Ramachandra Rao made some ripples in film circles. It is directed by V Samudra, who has a penchant for heroine-oriented movies. Last year, Samudra has done Mallepuvvu starring Bhumika Chawla which was only a lukewarm success.
Choosing Anushka as the heroine had a purpose as the actress ripped out a sensation with Arundhati some time ago. Currently in London for the premier of her film Patiala House, wherein Anushka Sharma stars opposite Shahid Kapoor, the Mumbai girl is a rage among the South Indian movie-goers too.
In Anushka’s own words, Panchakshari is an ‘‘extraordinary script. Samudra moulded the subject on the celluloid excellently. The film would be very interesting. Each character had its own identity and importance.’’
Anushka’s Tamil version of Arundhati is doing well, and there is a great demand for her films, hence there is a move to make the film in Tamil. Producer Venugopal is presenting the tamil version of the film.
Samrat (debutant), Nazar, Chandramohan, Brahmanandam, Pradeep Rawat, Ali, Raghubabu, MS Narayana, Jeeva, Benarjee, Uttej, Nalla Venu and Ravi Prakash are among the dramatis personae.
