Rising production costs in Tollywood have become a cause of serious concern for all producers in the field. Producers wary of this ‘budget blues’ are threatening a shutdown of industry for six months on the hunch but are rethinking that this will hurt the artistes more than them.
It is truly said that if all the work in industry is stopped, the toll hits everyone. Again it is a matter of fact that producers can hold this shut down for a longer time then the artistes. Hence producers hope that this threat of six months Tollywood shut down will make things fall in line, said a producer.
Kerala industry stays ahead in issuing these kinds of dangerous ultimatums to artists. In Malluwood, Producers already stopped the shooting of new films from April 16 in order to resolve the deadlock between artists and producers on the issue of reducing production costs which of course mainly deal with cutting of remunerations by artists in the industry.
Let us hope that artists come down a step to negotiate with producers and keep this industry alive else many artists and technicians will come onto the roads begging.
