NTR Correcting Mahanati Mistakes

It’s season of biopics in Tollywood. After Savitri’s biopic Mahanati, Telugu audience will get to see biopic on legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Titled NTR, Balakrishna is enacting his father NTR, besides producing the film in a prestigious manner.

When NTR was launched, many predicted that, Balakrishna will cast same artists who played important roles in Mahanati. However, Balakrishna and his director Krish are going with different artists, although few artists are repeated.

Mahanati hardly has any prominent faces, except for Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha in journalist roles. Keerthy Suresh who played Savitri was not so popular in Telugu, before the release of Mahanati. As is known Nithya Menon was original choice for the film. Nonetheless, Nithya refused the project due to unknown reasons. She actually bears a resemblance to Savitri than Keerthy Suresh who did her best to play the challenging role.

Many felt that, Mohan Babu and Naga Chaitanya were wrong choice for the roles of SV Ranga Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao respectively. Dulquer Salman who played Gemini Ganesan was not familiar to Telugu audience. NTR was approached to play his grandfather, but the young tiger refused it stating he didn’t have the guts to enact Sr NTR. Analysts say that, if director Nag Ashwin had signed known faces for Mahanati, it would have become much bigger hit.

Coming to NTR, Balakrishna is correcting all the mistakes of Mahanati. He is making right choices to sign right artists for key roles. Casting Bollywood actress Vidya Balan for Basavatarakam role, Tollywood handsome hunk Rana Daggubati for Chandrababu Naidu role, Sumanth for ANR’s role and Nithya Menon for Savitri’s role shows how big canvas NTR is going to be.

NTR marks debut for Balakrishna’s son Mokshagna who allegedly will be playing young NTR. Kalyan Ram is said to be playing the role of his father Harikrishna. This star-studded cast will surely multiply prospects on NTR. 

Meanwhile, Balakrishna and Krish are planning to sign popular actors to play other important roles in the film to make it the biggest attraction of 2019.
