In 60’s, Telugu actors used to sing their own songs. There was no place for dubbing artists or singers then. Moreover, filming was an expensive process, so that actors were needed to give right expressions in single or in very few occasions two to three takes. Filmmakers had preferred only Telugu actors who can speak Telugu fluently and have good voice to croon their songs.
Now-a-days, things have been changed a lot. Filmmakers are depending very less on actors. They have many options like dubbing artists, singers etc. to correct mistakes of actors. In fact, directors and producers are choosing stylish looking actors from Mumbai or other places.
Many of the busy character artists or heroines in Tollywood are from other states. Most of these artists don’t even care to do at least lip-syncing because of which we don’t get naturalistic feeling.
Though Tollywood has many talented actors, our filmmakers are keen to employ actors who look stylish and tall. Several senior actors like Kota Srinivasa Rao and others criticized directors for picking other language actors for key roles like villain, father, brother etc.
Actually, the other state actors are well treated, wherein no respect is given to Telugu actors in Tollywood, whether producers or directors accept this fact or not.
If our filmmakers won’t encourage Telugu talent, they will end up as junior and background artists. It is indeed their responsibility to discover skillful actors. Telugu audience are truly missing the Telugu touch in Telugu films, what do you say folks!
