We know that ace producer Suresh Babu has recently expressed his concerns over the rates that digital service provides are charging. Though it is actually free elsewhere outside India after a span of five years from taking its services, our digital service providers charge as much as 20,000 per week. Telugu Federation Film Council has decided to go for a bandh against this policy from March 2018 until the issue is resolved.
Currently, these charges are levied against distributors who opine that why should they be charged when all the digital service provider equipment will be with either the exhibitor or the digital service provider himself. With this decision, a new worry started among some of the producers.
We know that there is are line of big budget movies scheduled to release in Summer season and with this decision, they are in a dilemma thinking about the consequences. Few biggies like Bharat Ane Nenu, Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India, Robo 2 and several others are planning to come to theatres in that season. We will have to wait and see how the digital service providers respond to this issue. We hope the issue is resolved amicably between the involved parties.
