Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao took serious objection of the opposition Congress leaders opposing the idea of construction of new Secretariat.
‘There is no question of going back on the decision of constructing new Secretariat building. Telangana Secretariat is the worst among Secretariat buildings of 29 other States. Present Secretariat construction was not done in a planned manner. It does not even have fire safety and no municipal permissions were also taken.
I am not the first Chief Minister trying to have a new Secretariat building. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy wanted the Secretariat to be shifted to Erragadda. Later, Brahmananda Reddy too wanted it to be shifted due to Vasthu defects and other reasons. Even foreign delegates had expressed their views against the Secretariat building.
Telangana Government has been trying to get 71 acres of land of Bison Polo Ground to construct new buildings for Secretariat, Assembly, HODs Complex and a cultural Bhavan. It would cost nearly Rs. 500 Crores for the construction of four complexes which includes Rs. 180 Crores on Secretariat complex alone.
Telangana is a rich state and it could afford a new Secretariat building. Prime Minister Narender Modi congratulated on the proposed new buildings,’ said Kcr answering the strong objection raised by BJP on the proposal calling it a waste of public money.
