Senior journalist and social activist Gauri Lankesh from Karnataka is brutally killed outside her home last night in Bengaluru. She is known for fearless attitude and was an outspoken personality. While the reasons behind her murder are yet to be known, killers shot seven rounds of bullets from very close at her house. While one of the bullets hit her in forehead, Gauri was found dead on the spot at the verandah of her home.
Police men suspected on professional killers being hired on job and they also conducted a recce before execution. Footage from two CCTVs is captured and police are on a hunt to nab the attackers. Till now, there is no witness for the whole incident.
Meanwhile, Home Ministry sources informed media on receiving a call from Gauri last week and she wanted to meet the Home Minister. Though her meeting was scheduled to Monday, she neither came nor called back.
Gauri, 55 ran her own Kannada weekly Gauri Lankesh Patrike and Home Ministry is suspecting a similar pattern of murder to that of Kalburgi in this case too.
