Congrats and kudos to Miss India and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. She has been chosen to bag the 2008 best actress award at the 56th National Film Festival for her performance in the film Fashion directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. Madhur has already bagged two national awards for his films Page 3 and Traffic Signal.Priyanka was shooting for a film Anjan Anjani in New York when she received the news of her selection as the best actress. ‘‘I will give credit to Madhur Bhandarkar and the crew.

The award for the best popular film went to Dibakar Banerjee’s Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, a satire on people’s obsession for wealth. The Rahul Bose-starrer Bengali film Antaheen was named the best film.Meanwhile, the best actor award (Male) went to Upendra Limaye for Marathi film Jogwa.
And 1940 Lo Voka Gramam bagged the best regional feature film (Telugu), directed by Narasinha Nandi.Actress Kangna Ranaut also bagged best supporting actress for her role in Fashion. Congratulating Kangna, Priyanka wrote on her Twitter: "Congrats Kangana!! I would not have been Meghna Mathur (Priyanka's character) without you. You deserve it
