Hyderabad, Jan 15: Andhra Pradesh, which boasts of highest number of cinema halls in the country, is facing a  major crisis  in the year 2010 with  the forceful postponement of movie releases and rescheduling of shootings by the separate Telangana agitators.The Tollywood, according to a rough estimate is losing a whopping Rs 7 crore a day due to the statehood agitations.The Telugu film industry is not only hit by the Telangana agitation but also by a series of flops in the new releases.

Going by the statistics, of the 130 movies released in the year 2009, (compared to the 200 movies released in 2008) only 12 were hits at the Box Office. Of the 105 movies dubbed only 10 are stated to have done well.According to the Telugu Film Producers’ Council, the drastic fall in the number of successful movies had a terrible impact on the Telugu film Industry -- from producers to exhibitors -- and all of them had incurred huge losses.At the moment, things are not looking up for the Telugu Film Industry and the producers and Tollywood fraternity are at the crossroads keeping their fingers crossed.

The news that Telangana Jagruti Samiti led by MS Kavita , daughter of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has withdrawn their agitation against the screening of  films involving those actors and producers who are either directly or indirectly associated with a united Andhra Pradesh is a welcome sign.Meanwhile, it is reported that the  Bharateeya Janata Party is concerned about threats from various political parties to the Tollywood  fraternity.
