All those Indians depressed with the poor show of Indian squad at Rio Olympics, here comes the good news. Sakshi Malik opened the Indian account by winning a bronze medal in women freestyle 58kg wrestling category beating Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan. That was a spirited fight by the Indian because Sakshi fought back from 0-5 going down turning the match in her favor. This is India’s first medal at Rio 2016 Olympics.

Most importantly, 23 year old Sakshi from Rohtak is only the fourth woman athlete from India to win an Olympic medal. The other three include weightlifter Karnam Malleshwari won in 2000 Sydney Olympics, boxer MC Mary Kom won in 2012 London Olympics and Shuttler Saina Nehwal won in 2012 and London Olympics.

Meanwhile, we have all hopes pinned on shuttler PV Sindhu as she is taking on Japan opponent shuttler for the semifinals to be held today. Congrats to Sakshi and all the best to PV Sindhu.
