Balayya 100th: Mother Sentiment

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 100th film is locked. Writer and director Krissh pulled out an untouched story element based on Satavahana dynasty, the Telugu pride. Please, don’t be excited hearing about this historical subject. Although, this storyline of Gauthami Puthra Satakarni provides enormous scope for war episodes and magnanimity on screen yet the basic thread to drive this monumental project is Mother Sentiment.

The exact time period of Gauthami Puthra Satakarni’s rule is yet unknown, Krissh is deriving the best possible inputs from historical literary treasures. The name of Gauthami Puthra Satakarni bears the theory on presence of matriarchy during their period. Gauthami is Rajamatha and Satakarna is the name of dynasty. Gauthami Puthra literally means son of Gauthami and that’s the name of our hero. Prefixing a mother’s name means this ruler derives himself from female line and not the male line. 

If reports on Hema Malini being approached to play Gauthami in the film are true then Balayya will be her son. Emotional bonding between mother-son and the way Gautamiputra defeated rivals Yavanas, Sakas and Palavas re-establishing ancient glory of the Satavahanas form the rest of story.
