Despite divided talk for Nara Rohit’s ‘Thuntari’ released in last week, trade sources are buzzing with happiness as the film is declared to have recovered the budget spent. This is although shocking but solo release on last Friday without any substantial opponent helped the film to stick at Box Office. If the scale to measure a film’s success is recovery of investment and keeping the buyers happy, then ‘Thuntari’ did so.
Actually, this is a direct remake of Tamil hit ‘Maan Karate.’ Just like the average talk garnered by the original in Tamil Nadu, same was the situation with ‘Thuntari’ in AP, TS. Taking the best advantage of last weekend holidays and summer peaking up, collections are reported to be quite satisfactory for the film which was actually made on a very tight budget.
This week, we have ‘Kathakali’ and ‘Drushya Kavyam’ set for release. We need to see how far those two can affect the final ‘Thuntari’ revenues. Directed by Kumar Nagendra, heroine Latha Hegde is the debutant.
