There is an active belief on Tollywood star heroes inquiring for diverse entertaining subjects without grinding their films in same grove. Stories which penetrate deep into the thoughts of common audience are rare to find these days. Of course, commercial aspects should not be missed out at any contingency. According to a story, ‘Srimanthudu’ is seriously driven by noble thought of paying something back to roots of our society and hero does this by adopting a village.
Definitely, this is a strong story and characterization of hero should be powerful which Mahesh Babu never played in past films. The same idea of doing a bit of favor for your village has been deeply explored by intellectuals like K Balachander in Chiranjeevi ‘Rudraveena’ or Ashutosh Gowariker in Shah Rukh Khan ‘Swades.’ Unfortunately, both of them stood as classic films but not commercial blockbusters. When it matters more of professional satisfaction, subjects of this nature would work wonders.
Despite all these, Mahesh Babu billed ‘Srimanthudu’ as a family entertainer with mass and class appeal which has equal ability to cut across audience of all age groups. ‘We usually receive and giving is equally important. This is 'Srimanthudu' story told in commercial and entertaining manner. I hope audience will like it,’ Mahesh Babu bleeds in confidence. If the film has social message without missing in mass elements, then it's a welcome change for a new movement initiated from Koratala Siva.
