Bollywood's multi talented persona Karan Johar got a bitter experience of career doing a negative role in recently released 'Bombay Velvet.' The film although had an ensemble star cast including that of Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, director Anurag Kashyap could not deliver the quality as expected. Now the movie is declared a biggest disaster with no scope for recovery.
The period crime drama set in 1960's is stylishly canned with high production values. While the hot, romantic chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor playing Johnny Balraj and Anushka Sharma playing a jazz singer Rosie is said to be the highlight of film, the presence of Karan Johar as villain Kaizad Khambatta hasn't done any great deal of help to lift the commercial status.
'Anyways, this is just a chance I took. I am not a mainstream actor. There are many more departments in film making waiting for me. I am already a producer and director. When Anurag Kashyap wanted me in the film, I could not deny his idea. In fact, Naseeruddin Shah was the first choice for this role. I am glad that I've done a character which is sketched for Naseer Saab,' says Karan Johar.
