Behind the Movie Bunny n Cherry: Youngsters Prince and Mahat Raghavendra teamed with debutant director Rajesh Puli on a biologically mixed scientific subject for the film. Let us see, how far they could meet the standards needed for such subject.
In the Movie Bunny n Cherry: Story begins with introduction to two youngsters Karthik aka Bunny (Prince), son of a widowed mother (Seetha) working as a software engineer and Charan aka Cherry (Mahat), a B Tech graduate is son to a Taxi Driver (Posani). Both are enjoying lives in their respects cross a late night accident when Bunny is returning from a booze party and Charan in a lap race. Doctors (Yandamuri, Suman) perform a key neural surgery on their brains thus interchanging and transplanting their memories.
How their family lives, professional lives and love lives Kavya (Sabha) for Bunny and Pinky (Krithika) for Cherry got affected with this. How doctors re-performed the surgery to retain their own memories is the rest.
Values & Out of the Movie Bunny n Cherry: Only one aspect where in director Rajesh Puli can be congratulated is for taking up an innovative subject. This kind of genre requires a strong conviction in execution, a convincing script and quality performances from artists and even a good budget to mesmerize the audience. Unluckily, Rajesh does not have at least one of them. Performance of Prince was okay to some extent. Mahat had ease in dances but he has no brain in emotions. If Sabha is used for navel exposing, Krithi wooed with her thunder thighs. Brahmanandam as Auto Driver Manikyam did not get a role of his caliber. Posani was the best among all as father Mental Krishna to a son Mental Krishna. Yandamuri and Suman were for name sake. Of the rest, there is a big bunch of artists like Gowtham Raju, Apoorva, Melkote, Saththanna etc to just fill the screen. Among the other drawbacks, there is a big list including weak cinematography, improper editing and noise polluted music from Sri Vasanth. Even the production values of Harun Gani are quite mediocre.
As a director, there is no harm in finding inspirations from as many directors and as many concepts as we hear or see in Bollywood or Hollywood. When experimenting with a novel idea, sufficient groundwork is imperative. Director missed the whole lot in confusing the audience with his bizarre treatment. Mannerisms and body language of Prince and Mahat are to be strongly registered with mindset of viewers in auditorium before they have to be interchanged. The sinful performances of Prince and Mahat left no scope for us to escape from the unbearable. Now and then, it’s the colorful picturization of songs come as respite. In fact, the key episode of Brain Surgery in first half was handled more like a comedy scene. Justification to the same from Suman and Yandamuri is still more featherbrained. Overall, a good idea with bad execution tests the patience of patrons for almost two hours. Thanks for further horrible thought in climax where Electric Power is generated just with Speed Breakers on Road **!@$:-) and foreign delegates appreciating it is attached with an emotional flashback.
Do you need any further inferences on where will this kind of a film stand commercially at Telugu Box Office?
