Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) which regulates the exhibition of films under Cinematograph Act 1952 has taken a deadly decision not to allow ‘A’ rated films for screening in TVs from now on. This could hamper the number count of films which could reach the TV channels and there could also be a drop in TRPs as most of the star hero flicks or action entertainers usually get ‘A’ Censor certificates.
Inner sources are opining that, CBFC going for this extreme resolution was only due to the controversy created by ‘The Dirty Picture’ of Vidya Balan. This flick which was full of filthy dialogues, perverted scenes and boundless skin show was re-Censored more than couple of times before giving the nod for Sony TV. However, there was severe criticism from many sections of enlightened audience on how can be a film which won National Awards is made ineligible for TV screening? In order not to repeat such unnecessary controversies, CBFC has decided to close the ‘Form of Conversion’ which allows ‘A’ certified movies to go for re-Censor and get eligible for small screen shows.
