EMRAAN & SOHA DEBUT AS DIRECTORS

THE ONSCREEN COUPLE IN TUM MILE DIRECTS A SONG IN THE FILM

Bollywood has always seen innovations and experiments going its way, be it singers turning actors, actors turning singers, Film directors turning actors or actors turning Film directors. The very charming and unconventional onscreen pair of film TUM MILE- Soha Ali Khan & Emraan Hashmi is the latest entry into the league of experimentation. The duo has turned director by directing a song in their upcoming film Tum Mile which releases on 13th November, 09 all over, directed by Kunal Deshmukh of Jannat fame. The song is called Tum Mile Slow version and the music is by Pritam. It features Emraan (Emi) & Soha only in the lead.

Kunal Deshmukh was originally supposed to direct the song featuring the duo and everything was so professionally set. The cast & crew started the shoot but soon after a few shots Kunal felt that he was not getting the feel that he had supposed. He wanted a fun element and an amateurish feel to the song. Thus, immediately it clicked his mind to hand over a Handy camera to Emraan & Soha and asked them shoot whatever they can while having fun with each other. Emi-Soha at first got a little surprised, but soon started having fun with the camera, playing pranks and shooting shaky videos. Kunal Says on this new & innovative idea- “I don’t know why I felt like getting an unprofessional look for the song. I tried shooting, but really wanted something really raw. I knew that Emraan was a professional Still Photographer so that made me think for once to hand over the camera to him. When Emi got along well with the camera, Soha too was boosted and they both did a wonderful job as directors, I must say.  The video features them having fun and is quite amateurish in feel. It has been retained as it is in the film with a few edits. I am sure I made a correct decision and it will show on screen when the film releases.”

Emraan makes a mark with his statement- “I am very happy to be turning as a debutant director I think. I know it is just a song that me & Soha have shot in the film and that too in an unprofessional way, but trust me that it required a lot of concentration too as we all knew that though it was a fun, but it had to be a part of the film, which would be seen by millions. Soha was great at camerawork as she tried some new angles which I have never heard of; well I am sure it would have been similar feeling with her too. I am really looking forward to the song.” Soha Ali Khan shares her experience of getting behind the camera for the first time- “The song has come up as a surprise package for both of us. I remember that the song demanded very raw & amateur look which the professional people present there were not able to comply with. Then Kunal, our director gave us a Handy cam and asked us to shoot. We had fun really; both of us shot each other and also both together. It was natural to be amazed and enjoyed every second. Finally now, when Kunal is using the video as it is, I feel so happy to have directed a song and I realise that I have actually debuted as a Director. Emraan has done a fabulous job. He is a professional Photograher and I knew he had to do well. So we are all excited for this video and hope people would like it.”

Tum Mile is produced by Sony Music and Vishesh Films. The backdrop of the film is Mumbai Floods and a love story evolving in such situation.
