'Sholay' Showing its Effect on Society

Do pictures have an impact on the society? The answer is a definite YES. Here is an example that is to be accepted. The scene of Dhamendra standing on top of a water tank in the film ‘Sholay’ forcing the villagers to give him Hema Malini that is Basanti’s hand for marriage is a smashing hit. There were many scenes seen in later movies inspired by this particular shot.  

That is not the end of the story. It is rather the beginning. This particular scene was enacted by many to vent their feeling or place their demands at multiple places and it has become a very convenient way to hog publicity and drive home their point what with news hungry television channels leaving no such opportunity. From suspended home guards to jilted lovers, water tanks and cell towers have come like a blessing to register their protest. So, ‘Sholay’ is showing its effect even in present day.
