Bollywood Hero Fardeen Khan can now relax as the charges framed against him in a 2001 case of purchase of 1 Gram cocaine has come before a special trial judge in Mumbai High court which held that actor could only be charged for attempting to purchase a gram and cannot be prosecuted for nine grams as sought by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

Now, Narcotics Act permits Fardeen to go in for rehabilitation program in lieu of punishment and to grant immunity. Once the rehabilitation course is completed case would be closed. The court has posted case to November 2 for pre-trial steps where prosecution will furnish witnesses and original documents. Law says that one gram quantity of Cocaine purchase falls within legal limits for personal consumption and is not a commercial quantity for which acquitted can be prosecuted.
