Are Mythological and Devotional films, only the cup of tea of veteran directors? Names of either Singeetham Srinivas Rao or Raghavendra Rao or Bapu are daring on these kinds of films while present genre top most commercially successful men like SS Rajamouli, VV Vinayak and others are limiting themselves to words but not deeds. Luckless that all the above said veterans delivered hits with Mythological/Devotional subjects only on partial scale because films like ‘Sri Krishnarjuna Vijayam,’ ‘Sri Manjunatha’ and ‘Pandurangadu’ were big flops.
Present snap of the subject is release of ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ in coming few weeks and onus is on Balakrishna, Bapu. If this combination succeeds in touching the hearts of audience with this film, definitely pressure will be mounted primarily on Rajamouli and Vinayak because these two normally wag their tongues raising excitement in audience talking now and then on ‘Dana Veera Sura Karna’ or ‘Mahabharatham.’ Of course, they have shown no progress till now in action practically.
Are they really feared of touching Mythological subjects or aren’t they really worth while?
